KODIAK -- The Coast Guard said Monday it was searching for a 58-year-old Japanese
man reported overboard from the commercial fishing vessel Alaska Warrior in waters
about 200 miles west of Dutch Harbor.
Petty Officer Charly Hengen says the man reportedly fell overboard Monday afternoon
with no survival gear or life jacket.
The Alaska Warrior and its sister ship, the Alaska Juris, are also searching. Both
trawlers are homeported in Seattle.
A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-130 Hercules aircraft have been
dispatched from Kodiak.
Reported weather conditions in the area include 23 mph winds with seas to eight
feet and overcast skies. The water temperature is in the 40s.
